The developmental curriculum at the Lakeview Union School is based on what is known about the
physical, social, and intellectual growth of young children; on an understanding of what children
need to learn; and on what is known about how children learn. We provide a program of study, skill
acquisition, and achievement sequenced in specific relation to children's cognitive and
socio-emotional growth patterns. Basic skills are acquired in a natural sequence enhanced by
classroom environments that encourage children to learn to make positive choices, initiate and pursue
tasks, solve problems, communicate effectively, and demonstrate an investment in their own learning.
